And, the cool thing is that Craftsy is giving my readers a 50% discount on this amazing Kids Romper Revamp class! Use the code here to sign up and claim your discount.
The video format is easy and extremely helpful. Also, there is an interactive feature that allows students to directly ask questions in a sidebar dialogue. Very cool. As for Shelly's Kids Romper Revamp class, Shelly is so thorough in her video tutorial. She offered great tips on taking your child's measurements, a lesson in interfacings, techniques for sewing with knits, etc. I learned a lot. Did you know Shelly is a fifth-generation seamstress?
Anyway, I packed up the kids for a few hours and managed to make this precious, minimal dress that is kinda-sorta the Zephyr sundress bonus pattern, but we can call it the busy-working-non-nanny-having-mama's-zephyr-sundress-workaround! haha! Mine is a minimal frock, in color and construction, as I added no buttons or closures (just one solid yoke). And it fits my ladybird like it was made for her. Oh, wait...it was made for her...based on her exact measurements! It will look cute with an aqua cardigan from the Gap, dark grey leggings, and her Hello Kitty shoes.
I made my braided straps using strips of recycled silk saris from Leilani Arts. I wanted them to be mismatched to create an artful, urchin feeling.
